The Committee will come to order. We have with us today Mr. Naylor, the Under Secretary; Mr. Harold Hunter; and your associates. We are glad to have you here. We will be glad to have you proceed in your own way. Mr. NAYLOR. Mr. Chairman, thank you very much for the opportunity to appear before you today. We are here to present the Rural Electrification Administration budget proposals for fiscal year 1985. We believe them to be realistic in light of current budgetary considerations and program needs. I have asked Mr. Hunter to prepare and present the position of the agency for your Committee's consideration. STATEMENT OF THE ADMINISTRATOR Mr. WHITTEN. Mr. Hunter, we will be glad to hear from you. Mr. HUNTER. Mr. Chairman, we do appreciate being here. As far as the members of the staff that are here at the witness table, they are the same as we have had previously so they have been on the record. As Mr. Naylor has said, this presentation follows very closely our own recommendations plus the program that the Administration supports, and, as such, it touches upon economic recovery. |
