(s m.) 1 Come, sound His praise abroad, And hymns of glory sing; JEHOVAH is the sov’reign God, The universal King. 2 He form’d the deeps unknown; He gave the seas their bound ; The wat'ry worlds are all His own, And all the solid ground. Come, bow before the LORD; He form'd us by His word. 4 With humble souls adore, Come, kneel before His face: O may the creatures of His power Be children of His grace, An exhortation to sing the praises of Messiah, and to publish the glad tidings of his kingdom. This Psalm was composed by King David on the occasion of bringing the ark of God to Jerusalem, 1 Chron, xyi. New songs of glory raise ; In one great act of praise. 2 His great salvation shew, Exalt His sacred name; His mighty deeds proclaim. 3 Glorious is His abode; The heav'ns and earth He made; 'Midst heathen lands display'd, 4 His throne is righteousness; Your sacred off'rings bring; Worship the LORD your King. All pow'r to Him is giv'n; Adore the LORD of heav'n. 6 To judge the world he comes, In righteousness divine : His saints in bliss shall shine, This Psalm again celebrates the reign of ME$8IAH, and the nations are again called upon to rejoice and give thanks in his triumphs. I THE LORD JEHOVAH reigns, Proclaim Him Lord alone; And mercy is his throne : Let the whole earth in God rejoice. 2 Before the mighty LORD The hills and mountains melt; His awful power is felt. In presence of thy LORD rejoice, 3 Glorious He reigns on high, His judgments wide proclaim; Exalted is His name; Resound His praise with joyful voice, 4 His truth and grace make known, Ne'er from His ways depart; For you His light is sown, In peace and joy of heart: { Ye righteous, in your LORD rejoice, Give thanks and praise with grateful voice. ooooo PSALM 97. II. Metre. (1 m.) 1 HE reigns; the LORD, the Saviour reigns ! Praise Him in high exalted strains; Let the whole earth in songs rejoice, Let distant islands lift their voice, But grace and truth support His throne: Justice is their eternal ground. Shakes the wide earth, and cleaves the tombs ; The mountains melt, the seas retire, 4 His enemies with sore dismay, Fly from the sight, and shun the day! And sing, for your redemption's nigh. 5 Immortal light and joys unknown, Are for God's saints in darkness sown; And the bright harvest bless our eyes. 6 Rejoice, ye righteous, and record The sacred honours of the LORD: PSALM 98. (7, 7.) The prophet extols the victory and triumphs of JEHOVAH, and calls upon man, and the whole creation, to rejoice and give thanks. 1 PRAISE JEHOVAH, on His throne, Sing the wonders He hath done: His right hand, and holy arm, Zion guards from ev'ry harm. 2 Now salvation is made known, Righteousness and truth are shewn; The salvation of our God. Raise the theme of holy joy; Hail the glory of the LORD. With hosannahs fill the sky; Melody of psalms divine. Sound His praise from shore to shore; Great Jehovah's glorious name.
