[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, directed to Amount of pencause to be paid to Elizabeth Swain, of Hawkins county, Ten- Swain, to be pala nessee, widow of Charles Swain, a deceased soldier of the revolution, the amount which would have accrued to the said Charles as a pension, at the rate of forty-four dollars and sixty-seven cents a year, from the fourth of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-one, to July eleven, eighteen hundred and thirty-three, the time of his death, to be paid out of any moneys appropriated for the payment of revolutionary pensions.

CHAP. 220. An ACT for the relief of Peggy Abel, Sally Rolls, and Elijah
Green.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, directed to pay so paid to Peggy Abel, Sally Rolls, and Elijah Green, in the State of to the Virginia, children and heirs at law of Elijah Green, late of said State, deceased, the sum of nine hundred and sixty dollars, it being the amount of ten years' pension in arrear to the said Elijah Green, senior, in consequence of his name having been stricken from the pension roll by a decision of the Department of War, and afterwards restored by a reversal of said decision. Approved 28th June, 1836.

CHAP. 221. An ACT granting a pension to Micajah Ricketts

[SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, directed to place $4 per monch the name of Micajah Ricketts on the invalid pension roll, and is that he be paid at the rate of four dollars per month, during his natural life, commencing on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Approved, 28th June, 1836.

CHAP. 223. An ACT for the relief of Mary Lampkin.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, To be paid the That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, directed to pay amount of pen to Mary Lampkin, the widow of John Lampkin, late of Culpeper county, in the State of Virginia, deceased, and who was pensioned for revolutionary services, under the act of eighteenth March, eighteen hundred and eighteen, such sum of money as the said John Lampkin would have been entitled to receive had his name not been stricken from the roll of revolutionary pensioners after he was first placed thereon: Provided, That said Secretary of War shall become satisfied, from proper testimony, that the said John Lampkin was in such indigent circumstances as to have been justly entitled to a pension, agreeably to the provisions of the act of June first, eighteen hundred and twenty.

CHAP. 224. An ACT granting a pension to William Warden.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, per month, That the Secretary of War be, and he hereby is, authorized and required to pay William Warden, a soldier of the thirteenth regiment, Kentucky militia, in the last war, a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month, commencing on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, and to continue during his natural life, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Approved, 28th June, 1836.

CHAP. 225. An ACT for the relief of George White.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. $4 per month, That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, authorized and from 1st January, required to pay George White, a soldier in the company of Captain Staunton Sholes, in the last war, attached to the second regiment United States artillery, a pension at the rate of four dollars per month, commencing on the first of January, eighteen

CHAP. 226. An ACT for the relief of Daniel Cobb.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the name of Daniel Cobb, of the State of Maine, be $30 per annum. restored to the roll of revolutionary pensioners, and that he be paid at the rate of eighty dollars per annum, during his natural life; the said payment to commence from the time he was last paid his said pension.

CHAP. 227. An ACT granting a pension to Daniel Granger.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

That the Secretary of War be, and he is hereby, directed to 820 per annum, place the name of Daniel Granger, of Saco, in the county of from 4th March, York, and State of Maine, on the roll of revolutionary pensioners, and to pay him twenty dollars per annum during his natural life, commencing on the fourth day of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-one. CHAP. 230. An ACT for the relief of Alpheus Hutchins.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, month That the Secretary of War be directed to pay to Alpheus Hutchins, of Coos county, State of New Hampshire, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of four dollars per month, during his natural life; payment commencing on the first January, eighteen hundred and thirty-six. CHAP. 231. An ACT to disapprove and annul certain acts of the Territonal
Legislature of Florida, and for other purposes.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, Ferritorial Legis That no act of the Territorial Legislature of any of the Terribanking pri tories of the United States, incorporating any bank or any inst eges unul, &c. tution with banking powers or privileges, hereafter to be passed, shall have any force or effect whatever, until approved and confirmed by Congress.

Acts of Legisla ure of Florida annulled.

SECTION 2. And be it further enacted, That the following acts of the Territorial Legislature of Florida, namely: an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Bank of St. Joseph," passed February twelfth, eighteen hundred and thirty-six ; an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Florida Insurance and Banking Company," passed February tenth, eighteen hundred and thirty-six; an act passed February fourteenth, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, entitled "An to incorporate the St. Joseph Insurance Com pany," and all other acts and parts of acts, passed by the said Territorial Legislature of Florida, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-six, creating banks or extending banking corporations, or corporations with banking powers, or conferring banking powers on any corporation or institution whatever, be, and the same hereby are disapproved and annulled.

CHAP. 232 An ACT to change the time of holding the district court of the 1836. United States for the western district of Virginia, holden at Clarksburg.

[SEC. 1.] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That from and after the first day of August, next, the sessions Courts to be held of the district court of the United States for the western district on the first Mon days of April and of Virginia, required by law to be holden at Clarksburg, shall September. be held on the first Mondays of April and September annually.

CHAP. 233. An ACT explanatory of an aet entitled "An act to release from duty, iron prepared for, and actually laid on, railways and inclined planes."

(SEC. 1.] Be it enacted, by the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the act of the fourteenth of July, eighteen hundred and thirty-two, entitled "An act to release from duty, fron prepared for, and actually laid on, railways and inclined planes," shall not be so construed as to include spikes, pins, or chains, as railroad Approved 1st of July, 1836.

CHAP. 234. An ACT to provide for the due execution of the laws of the
United States within the State of Michigan.

[SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the laws of the United States which are not locally inap- Laws of U. 8. ins plicable, shall have the same force and effect within the State of force.

SECTION 2. And be it further enacted, That the said State District court &c. shall be one district, and be called the District of Michigan; and a district court shall be held therein, to consist of one judge, who shall reside in the said district, and be called a district judge. He shall hold, at the seat of government of the said State, two sessions of the said district court annually on the first Mondays in May and October; and he shall, in all things, have and exercise the same jurisdiction and powers which were by law given. to the judge of the Kentucky district under an act entitled "An act to establish the judicial courts of the United States." He shall appoint a clerk for the said district, who shall reside and keep the records of the said court at the place of holding the same, and shall receive, for the services performed by him, the same fees to which the clerk of the Kentucky district is by law entitled for similar services.
