THE SACRED TIE OF MARRIAGE.

And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.-Gen. ii. 18.

And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.-22.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.-23.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.-24.

And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.-Gen. xx. 2.

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.-3.

...I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me.-6.

...The thing proceedeth from the Lord:... Gen. xxiv. 50. Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the Lord hath spoken.-51.

And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.-67.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife ... Ex. xx. 17.

Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, beside the other in her life time.-Lev. xviii. 18.

When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.Deut. xxiv. 5.

Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord ;Ps. cxxviii. 1.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.-3.

...Rejoice with the wife of thy youth.-Prov. v. 18.

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe...19. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness to his bones.-Prov. xii. 4.

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.-Prov. xviii. 22.
