SECTION VIII

SUPPORT OF SMALL BUSINESS ADVOCATE PROGRAMS

The General Electric Company encourages its employees to implement

this subcontracting program and to participate in and support community organizations which directly, or indirectly, assist the General

Electric efforts to implement its programs.

An "extra step" award program is utilized as a motivative and reinforcement for the outstanding job in improving our use of minority vendors and maintaining an effective program.

General Electric Company operating components are active in all aspects

of community life and take an active role in those organizations which are beneficial to the community. One such organization is Drive Systems Operation's representation on the Regional Purchasing Council of Virginia.

We have received many inquiries regarding what constitutes an acceptable subcontracting plan under Public Law 95-507. In an effort to provide some guidance, I am enclosing a plan format developed by the General Electric Company that I think will satisfy the subcontracting plan requirements.
