ALSO,

A NATIONAL REGISTER,

AND SUNDRY MATTERS OF GENERAL IMPORTANCE.

INDIANAPOLIS:

PUBLISHED BY SAMUEL TURNER.

1846.

PUBLISHER'S PREFACE.

Ir is intended, in the following Appendix, to note the most important changes which have occurred since the preparation of the REGISTER for 1845, particularly the TERMS of the Circuit Courts for 1846, and the names of ASSOCIATE JUDGES, CLERKS, SHERIFFS, RECORDERS, and CORONERS, who were elected or appointed in 1845, with the dates of their commissions. In the department of civil government filled by JUSTICES OF THE PEACE, the changes have been but few, and additions to their number are deemed unnecessary. The same remark may be made in reference to the greater part of the DEPARTMENT of COUNTY MATTERS, an entire revision of which does not seem to be called for in the present publication. The LIST OF POST OFFICES IN INDIANA, their location, and names of Postmasters, have been obtained with considerable labor, and may be relied upon as the most correct of any heretofore published, having been brought down to the latest period possible from current way-bills at the Indianapolis Post Office. The NATIONAL REGISTER is a new feature in the work, which, it is hoped, will be found sufficiently valuable to justify the space which it occupies. The Publisher begs leave to remark, in conclusion, that in a work of this kind progressive improvement must be its distinguishing characteristic; the limits of which he is perfectly willing shall be determined by the liberality of the CITIZENS OF INDIANA.
