The objects of the Association are to diffuse knowledge and information throughout the mechanical classes; to found Lectures on Natural, Mechanical, and Chemical Philosophy, and other scientific subjects; and to establish schools for the benefit of their youth, and to hold annual fairs. In accordance with the above objects, it has established classes in Modeling, Machinery, Architectural and Ornamental Drawing; a winter Course of Lectures on scientific and other subjects; also, a reading-room and a library, consisting of six thousand volumes, all of which are free to the mechanics, workingmen, and apprentices of the city of New York.
