By an Act of the Legislature of 1791, the Regents of the University of the State of New York were authorized to establish a College of Physicians and Surgeons in the State; and in 1807, the Regents, by charter, created “ The College of Physicians and Surgeons in the city of New York," and the first course of lectures was delivered in the winter of 1807-8.
