MR. SPEAKER: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the Senate, on this day, passed Assembly Bill No. 686-An Act to divide the County of El Dorado into revenue districts, and to provide for the assessment, collection, and equalization of taxes therein.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 828-An Act amendatory of and supplementary to an Act to confer additional powers upon the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco, to provide for the opening of Serpentine Avenue, and the condemnation of private property therefor, approved March eighteenth, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight.

Also, passed Assembly Bill No. 278-An Act for the relief of Richard Dudding and William Johnson.

This day, passed Senate Bill No. 413-An Act for the relief of James W. Marshall.

Also, passed Assembly Bill No. 698--An Act to amend section two thousand one hundred and forty of the Political Code, in relation to the compensation of Directors of the State Insane Asylum located at Stockton.

On this day, passed Assembly Bill No. 82-An Act to increase the number of Supervisors in the City and County of San Francisco, and the manner of electing the same.

On this day, adopted Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 63-Relative to Senate Bill No. 665. Also, concurred in Assembly amendment to Senate Bill No. 685-An Act to provide a Contingent Fund for the use of the Legislature.

Also, on this day, passed and ordered transmitted without engrossment Senate Bill No. 395-An Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to provide for the support of the common schools in the City and County of San Francisco, and to define the powers and duties of the Board of Education thereof, approved April first, eighteen hundred and seventy-two.

This day, passed Assembly Bill No. 825-An Act to regulate and fix the salaries and compensation of certain officers for the County of Santa Barbara.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 262-An Act to change and establish the boundary line between the Counties of Sacramento and San Joaquin.

Amended and passed Assembly Bill No. 846-An Act to define the location of and to legalize the name of Fisherman's Peak.

Amended and passed substitute for Assembly Bills Nos. 1 and 100-An Act for the improvement of certain public reservations in the City and County of San Francisco.

Passed Assembly Bill No. 364-An Act to legalize the acts of the Board of Supervisors of Trinity County in appointing Justices of the Peace for the townships in said county.

Also, substitute for Assembly Bill No. 491-An Act concerning estrays and animals found running at large in the County of Sonoma.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 835-An Act making appropriations for deficiencies for the twentyeighth and twenty-ninth fiscal years, ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and seventyeight.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 46-An Act to amend certain sections of the Political Code, to repeal certain other sections, and to add new sections thereto.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 568-An Act to provide for the payment of deficiencies in the appropriation for pay for procuring and listing lands to the State by the United States for the twentyfourth and twenty-fifth fiscal years.

Also, Assembly Bill No. 806-An Act to amend the Penal Code with respect to the punishment of persons guilty of cheating under pretense of playing at games of chance.

Amended and passed Assembly Bill No. 283-An Act relating to the civil government of military companies.

Passed Assembly Bill No. 405-An Act authorizing the condemnation of private property within the limits of Hickory Avenue, between Gough and Octavia Streets, in the City and County of San Francisco.

And Assembly Bill No. 855-An Act to amend section three thousand seven hundred and thirteen of the Political Code.

Passed Senate Bill No. 687-An Act to confer additional powers on the Board of Trustees of the Town of Alameda.

Also, passed Assembly Bill No. 630-An Act to amend sections three thousand seven hundred and sixty-six and four thousand and forty-seven of the Political Code, relating to publication of delinquent tax lists.

SPEAKER: The San Francisco delegation, to whom was referred Senate Bill No. 686-An Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to enable the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco to increase the police force of said city and county, and provide for the appointment, regulation, and payment thereof, approved April first, eighteen hundred and seventyeight-report the same, and a majority recommend that it do pass. Fifteen members present and voting; nine ayes, six noes.

Resolved, That the Minute Clerk of this House be and he is hereby authorized and directed to compare the minutes, as kept by him during the session, with the Journal, and make such corrections as will be necessary to make the minutes correspond with the Journal as approved from day to day, and deliver the same to the State Printer, to be used in preparing the printed Journal of this session; for which service said Minute Clerk shall receive a compensation not to exceed five cents per folio, payable out of the fund for contingent expenses of the Assembly; and, in order that a faithful discharge of the service above mentioned may be secured, be it further

Resolved, That said Minute Clerk is hereby required to file a bond in the sum of one thousand dollars, conditioned upon the satisfactory completion of said service within twenty days after the adjournment of this House; and

Resolved, That when such work has been completed and the amount due therefor has been estimated by the Secretary of State, the Controller is authorized to draw his warrant for, and the Treasurer to pay said amount.

Upon the adoption of the resolution, the ayes and noes were demanded by Messrs. Nott, Ostrom, and Smyth.
