Assembly Bill No. 12-An Act to authorize the transfer of moneys in certain funds of the County of Alameda to the General Fund of said county, and provide for the payment of certain warrants, if any, now outstanding.

Assembly Bill No. 40-An Act to legalize the acts of the Board of Supervisors of Lake County, in the matter of the survey and construction of the Kelley Cañon road, in said county.

Assembly Bill No. 41-An Act to fix the terms of the County and Probate Courts in and for the County of Lake.

Read third time, and passed.

Title approved.

Assembly Bill No. 3-An Act to regulate fees, and fix the salaries. and compensation of certain officers, for the County of Colusa. Read third time, and passed.

Title approved.

Assembly Bill No. 7-An Act to authorize the Trustees of Lower Lake School District to issue bonds to pay for the Nichols' School building.

Read third time, and passed.

Title approved.

Resolution to print Journal of the Assembly taken up, and the question being upon the adoption of the substitute recommended by the committee, Mr. Hinshaw moved to indefinitely postpone the whole subject matter.

Motion adopted.

On motion of Mr. Dixon, the House then took up the resolution

passed yesterday, providing for the election of an Assistant Clerk at the reading desk.

Nominations being in order, Mr. Dixon placed in nomination A. M. S. Carpenter.

There being no further nominations, the roll was called with the following result:

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

House took up the following resolution, by Mr. Dorsey:

Resolved, That the Committee on Corporations be and they are hereby requested to report a bill to regulate freights and fares on the various railroads in this State, at as early a day as possible.

The following substitute to the above resolution, offered by Mr. Broderick, was withdrawn:

Resolved, That the Committee on Corporations inquire into the cause of the failure of the Transportation Commission to report to the Legislature, in conformity with an Act providing for the appointment of said Commission, passed during the twenty-first session of the Legislature, and report the same to this body at an early day.

At two o'clock and thirty minutes P. M., Mr. Johnson moved to adjourn.

Lost.

The question being upon the adoption of the original resolution, as offered by Mr. Dorsey, it was adopted.

The House then took up the motion of Mr. Gildea: That the Clerk of this House furnish the Secretary of State with a list of the names of reporters occupying desks on the floor of the House at the present time, that they alone might be allowed fifteen dollars worth of stationery each.

The following substitute was offered by Mr. Ostrom:

Resolved, That representatives of the public press be required to make their requisitions for stationery which they may require of the committee appointed to furnish stationery to the employés and attachés of the House.

On motion of Mr. Tuttle, the whole subject matter was indefinitely postponed.

Mr. Brooks, at two o'clock and forty-five minutes P. M., moved to adjourn. Lost.

MR. SPEAKER: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the Senate, upon the suggestion of the death of the Hon. Nathan Porter, Senator from Alameda County, adopted a series of resolutions, a copy of which is herewith transmitted; and the President of the Senate appointed, as a committee under said resolutions, Senators Beazell, Evans, Shirley, Dean, and P. W. Murphy, and the Senate thereupon adjourned till Wednesday next, at three o'clock P. M. G. SECKEL, Assistant Secretary.
