AMENDMENTS Proposed to the Bill for apportioning Representatives to Congress. Amendment offered by Mr. Stevens of Thomaston. Strike out all after the 4th line of section two on page 5, and inscrt as follows: The county of York shall constitute the first 2 District. All that part of the county of Oxford which 2 lics south of the Androscoggin river including 3 such towns as may be divided by said river, ex4 cepting the town of Rumford, together with the 5 towns of Baldwin, Sebago, Bridgton, Harrison, 6 Otisfield, Minot, Auburn, Greene, Wales, Mon7 mouth, Leeds, Winthrop, Wayne, Fayette, and 8 Readfield shall constitute the second District. The county of Cumberland except the towns 2 belonging to said county included in the second 3 District, and excepting also the towns of Bruns4 wick, Harpswell, and Freeport, shall constitute 5 the third District. All that part of the county of Lincoln which 2 lies west of the Kennebec river, together with 3 the towns of Brunswick, Freeport, Harps4 well, Litchfield, Gardiner, Pittston, Hallowell, 5 Augusta, and Sidney, shall constitute the fourth 6 District. That part of the county of Lincoln east of the 2 Kennebec river, shall constitute the fifth District. All that part of the county of Oxford not in2 cluded in the second District, the county of 3 Franklin, those towns in the county of Kenne4 bec on the west side of the Kennebec river, not 5 included in the second and fourth Districts, and 6 all of that part of the county of Somerset which 7 lies west of the Kennebec river, except the towns 8 of Bloomfield and Norridgewock, shall consti9 tute the sixth District.
