STATE OF MAINE.

IN SENATE, March 2, 1842.

The joint select committee, which was directed, by an order of the 15th of January, 1842, "to apportion the State for the election of Representatives to the State Legislature,” have attended to that duty, and ask leave to report the following Resolve, which is herewith submitted.

STATE OF MAINE.

RESOLVE for apportioning one hundred and fifty one representatives among the several counties, cities, towns, plantations and classes in the State of Maine at the fourth apportionment.

RESOLVED, That the county of York shall 2 choose sixteen representatives, to be apportion3 ed as follows:-Saco, one; York, one; Wells, 4 one; Kennebunk-port, one; Biddeford, one; 5 Buxton, one; Kittery, one; Parsonsfield, one; 6 South Berwick and Eliot, one; Sanford and 7 Lebanon, one; Waterborough and Lyman, one ; 8 Alfred and Kennebunk, one; Limington and 9 Hollis, one; Berwick and North Berwick, one; 10 Shapleigh and Acton, one; Cornish, Limerick 11 and Newfield, one.

That the county of Cumberland shall choose 2 twenty representatives, to be apportioned as fol3 lows:-city of Portland, three; Westbrook, one;

4 Brunswick, one; Gorham, one; North Yarm5 outh, one; Freeport, one; Poland, one; Stand6 ish, one; Windham, one; Minot and Auburn, 7 one; Baldwin, Sebago and Naples, one; Cas8 co, Raymond and Otisfield, one; Durham and 9 Pownal, one; Cumberland and Falmouth, one ; 10 Gray and Harpswell, one; Scarborough, one for 11 the years eighteen hundred and forty threc, eight12 een hundred and forty five, eighteen hundred 13 and forty seven, eighteen hundred and forty nine 14 and eighteen hundred and fifty one; Cape Eliz15 abeth, one for the years eighteen hundred and 16 forty four; eighteen hundred and forty six, eight17 een hundred and forty eight and eighteen hund18 red and fifty; Bridgton and Harrison, one; 19 New Gloucester and Danville, one.

That the county of Lincoln shall choose 2 nineteen representatives, to be apportioned as 3 follows:-Thomaston, two; Bath, one; Waldo4 borough, one; Warren and Friendship, one; 5 St. George, Cushing and Muscle Ridge island, 6 one; Union and Washington, one; Whitefield 7 and Patricktown plantation, one; Jefferson and 8 Alna, one; Wiscasset and Woolwich, one;

9 Newcastle and Edgecomb, one; Nobleborough 10 and Bremen, one; Boothbay, Townsend and 11 Westport, one; Phipsburg, Georgetown and 12 Arrowsic, one; Bristol, Monhegan and adjacent 13 isles of St. George and Matinic, one; Bow14 doinham and Webster, one; Lewiston and 15 Lisbon, one; Bowdoin and Topsham, one; 16 Richmond, one, for the years eighteen hundred 17 and forty three, eighteen hundred forty five, 18 eighteen hundred forty seven, eighteen hundred 19 and forty nine, and eighteen hundred and fifty 20 one; Dresden, one, for the years eighteen 21 hundred and forty four, eighteen hundred and 22 forty six, eighteen hundred and forty eight, and 23 eighteen hundred and fifty.

That the county of Hancock shall choose nine 2 representatives, to be apportioned as follows:3 Bucksport and Wetmore isle, one; Penobscot, 4 Castine, Holbrook island and Matinicus plan5 tation, one; Brooksville, Sedgwick, Swan's 6 island plantation, Hog island plantation and 7 Long island plantation, one; Deer isle, Bear 8 island, Beach island, Pickering's island, Great 9 Spruce Head island, Little Spruce Head island, 10 Butter island, Eagle island and Hacketask
