Act Creating Counties within the Territory of Hawaii, and Providing for the Government thereof," together with Senate Bill No. 74 entitled "An Act to Amend Act 39 of the Session Laws of 1905, entitled 'An Act Creating Counties within the Territory of Hawaii and Providing for the Government thereof'," and Senate Bill No. 75 entitled “An Act to Amend Act 39 of the Session Laws of 1905, entitled 'An Act Creating Coties within the Territory of Hawaii, and Providing for the Government thereof," begs leave to report that they have had the Bills under consideration, and would recommend that House Bill No. 136 pass on Second Reading with the following amendments:

Amend the item

"Sheriff of the County of Maui..

.2,400 a year."

by striking out the figures "2,400" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "2,100."

Amend the item

"Auditor of the County of Oahu..

2,400 a year"

by striking out the figures "2,400" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "1,800."

Amend the item

"County Attorney of the County of Oahu........ 2,400 a year" by striking out the figures "2,400" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "3,000."

Amend the item

"County Attorney of the County of Maui........ 1,800 a year" by striking out the figures "1,800" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "2,100."

Amend the item

"Treasurer of the County of Oahu.....

2,400 a year"

by striking out the figures "2,400" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "1,800."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of Ewa....

1,500 a year"

by striking out the figures "1,500" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "1,200."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of South Hilo.... 1,800 a year" by striking out the figures "1,800" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "1,620."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of South Kohala. 720 a year" by striking out the figures "720" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "960."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of Hamakua......

960 a year"

by striking out the figures "960" and inserting in lieu there

of the figures "1,200."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of Hana.......

1,080 a year"

by striking out the figures "1,080" and inserting in lieu there

of the figures "960."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of Molokai......

720 a year"

by striking out the figures "720" and inserting in lieu there

of the figures "600."

Amend the item

"Deputy Sheriff of the District of Waimea.....

1,500 a year"

by striking out the figures "1,500" and inserting in lieu thereof the figures "1,200."

Your Committee would further recommend that Senate Bills Nos. 74 and 75 be laid upon the table.

The Senate met, pursuant to adjournment, at 9:30 o'clock. After prayer by the Chaplain, the Roll was called showing Senator Chillingworth absent.

The Journal of the Forty-Third Day was read and, upon motion of Senator Lane, seconded by Senator Coelho, approved as read.

A Communication (No. 187) from the House of Representatives, informing the Senate of its non-concurrence in the amendments made to House Bill No. 74, and of the appointment of a Conference Committee for the further consideration of the Bill, was read by the Clerk as follows:
