An act authorizing the Rector, Church Wardens and Vestrymen of Saint Stephen's Church to issue bonds.

CHAPTER CLXXXII.

An act to change the name of Christian Frank.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, That the name of Christian Frank, now a resident on New York avenue, in the city of Newark, in the county of Essex, be and the same is hereby changed to Christian Franklin, and by that name shall be known in all courts, places and proceedings, and shall possess all the rights, powers and privileges, which he would have possess ed under and by his original name; and that all gifts, grants, bequests; devises, contracts, agreements and conveyances of every kind and description whatsoever, heretofore made by or to him, under and by the name of Christian Franklin, shall be and the same are hereby declared to be as valid and effectual in law, to and for all intents and purposes whatsoever, as though the same had been made by or to him, under and by his said original name.

2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect immediately.

CHAPTER CLXXXIII.

An act to incorporate the Ancient Order of Hibernians of the State of New Jersey.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, That Philip Reilly, John Meehan, Names of John Hart, James Herbert, Charles Daly, their associates and their successors be and hereby are constituted a body corporate and politic in law, by name of "The Ancient Or- Corporate der of Hibernians of the State of New Jersey," and by that name they and their successors shall have power to use a common seal, to sue and be sued, to defend and be defended, in all courts of law and equity, and to do all such things as are incident to a corporation and necessary for the purposes of this act or of said incorporation.

And be it enacted, That the objects of said incorpora- Objects of tion shall be the relief of the sick, the burial of the dead, the protection of widows and orphans, the encouragement of learning, and other benevolent and charitable purposes; and for such purposes the said corporation and its successors shall and may at all times hereafter be capable in law of having, purchasing, holding and possessing any lands, tenements, hereditaments and personal estate purchased, devised or bequeathed by any person or persons, body corporate or politic capable of making the same; provided always, that Proviso. the said corporation or body politic shall not at any time hold or possess property, real, personal or mixed, exceeding in value the sum of fifty thousand dollars.
