IX. and X. have an ornamented body-stone, or horizontal stone covering the grave. The body-stone should be well coped ; the shaft of the cross forms its ridge, and extends from end to end. Thus constructed it answers the same purpose as the heavy curved stone in common use, without its clumsy and unsightly appearance. |
