LA Parole taree

et cette Parole était Dieu.

2 Elle était au commencement avec Dieu.

3 Toutes choses ont été faites par elle, et rien de ce qui a été fait, n'a été fait sans elle.

4 C'est en elle qu'était la vie, et la vie était la lumière des hommes. 5 Et la lumière luit dans les ténèbres, et les ténèbres ne l'ont point reçue.

6 Il y eut un homme, appelé Jean, qui fut envoyé de Dieu.

7 Il vint pour être témoin et pour rendre témoignage de la Lumière, afin que tous crussent par lui.

8 Il n'était pas lui-même la Lumière, mais il était envoyé pour rendre témoignage à la Lumière. 9 C'était la véritable Lumière qui éclaire tous les hommes, en venant au monde.

10 Elle était dans le monde, et le monde a été fait par elle; mais le monde ne l'a pas connue.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 Il est venu chez soi; et les siens ne l'ont point reçu.

12 Mais à tous ceux qui l'ont reçu, il leur a donné le droit d'être faits enfans de Dieu, savoir, à ceux qui croient en son nom;

13 Qui ne sont point nés du sang, ni de la volonté de la chair, ni de la volonté de l'homme, mais qui sont nés de Dieu.

14 Et la Parole a été faite chair, et a habité parmi nous, pleine de grâce et de vérité, et nous avons vu sa gloire, une gloire telle qu'est celle du Fils unique venu du Père.

15 C'est de lui que Jean rendait témoignage, lorsqu'il criait: C'est ici celui dont je disais: Celui qui vient après moi m'est préféré, parce qu'il est plus grand que moi

16 Et nous avons tous reçu de sa plénitude, et grâce sur grâce.

17 Car la loi a été donnée par Moïse, mais la grâce et la vérité sont venues par Jésus-Christ..

18 Personne ne vit jamais Dieu; le Fils unique, qui est dans le sein du Père, est celui qui nous l'a fait connaître.

19 C'est ici le témoignage que Jean rendit, lorsque les Juifs envoyèrent de Jérusalem des sacrificateurs et des Lévites pour lui demander: Qui es-tu ?

20 Il le confessa, et ne le désavoua point; il le confessa en disant: Je ne suis point le Christ.

21 Qu'es-tu donc ? lui demandèrent-ils. Es-tu Elie? Et il dit: Je ne le suis point. Es-tu le Prophète ? Et il répondit: Non.

22 Is lui dirent: Qui es-tu done? afin que nous rendions réponse a ceux qui nous ont envoyés. Que dis tu de toi-même ?

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God. even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me; for he was before me.

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and, truth came by Jesus Christ.

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that Prophet? And he answered, No.

22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

25 Ils lui demandèrent encore: Pourquoi donc baptises-tu, si tu n'es point le Christ, ni Elie, ni le Prophète ?

26 Jean leur répondit et leur dit : Pour moi, je baptise d'eau; mais il y a un homme au milieu de vous, que vous ne connaissez point.

27 C'est celui qui vient après moi, qui m'est préféré, et je ne suis pas digne de délier la courroie de ses souliers.

28 Ces choses se passèrent à Béthabara, au-delà du Jourdain, où Jean baptisait.

29 Le lendemain, Jean vit Jésus qui venait à lui, et il dit: Voici l'Agneau de Dieu, qui ôte le péché

du monde.

30 C'est celui dont je disais: Il vient après moi un homme qui m'est préféré; car il est plus grand que moi.

31 Et pour moi, je ne le connaissais pas, mais je suis venu baptiser d'eau, afin qu'il soit manifesté à Israël.

32 Jean rendit encore ce témoi gnage, et dit: J'ai vu l'Esprit descendre du ciel comme une colombe, et il s'est arrêté sur lui.

33 Pour moi, je ne le connaissais pas; mais celui qui m'a envoyé baptiser d'eau, m'avait dit: Celui sur qui tu verras l'Esprit descendre et s'arrêter, c'est celui qui baptise du Saint-Esprit.

34 Et je l'ai vu, et j'ai rendu témoignage que c'est lui qui est le Fils de Dieu.

35 Le lendemain, Jean étant encore là avec deux de ses disciples, 36 Et voyant Jésus qui marchait, il dit: Voilà l'Agneau de Dieu.

37 Et ses deux disciples, l'ayant ouï parler ainsi, suivirent Jésus.

38 Jésus s'étant retourné et voyant qu'ils le suivaient, il leur dit: Que cherchez-vous? Ils lui répon

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then. if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that Prophet?

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth oné among you, whom ye know not;

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me; for he was before me.

31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to 1srael, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizetli with the Holy Ghost.

34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

35 Again the next day after, John stood. and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Je

38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said

40 André, frère de Simon Pierre, était l'un des deux qui avaient entendu ce que Jean disait, et qui avaient suivi Jésus.

41 Celui-ci trouva le premier Simon son frère, et il lui dit: Nous avons trouvé le Messie, (c'est-àdire, le Christ.)

42 Et il l'amena à Jésus. Jésus, l'ayant regardé, lui dit: Tu es Simon, fils de Jona; tu seras appelé Céphas, (c'est-à-dire, Pierre.)

43 Le lendemain, Jésus voulut s'en aller en Galilée, et il trouva Philippe, et lui dit Suis-moi.

44 Or, Philippe était de Bethsaïde, qui était aussi la ville d'André et de Pierre.

45 Philippe rencontra Nathanaël, et lui dit: Nous avons trouvé celui de qui Moïse a écrit dans la loi, et dont les prophètes ont parlé; c'est Jésus de Nazareth, le fils de Joseph. 46 Nathanaël lui dit: Peut-il venir quelque chose de bon de Nazareth? Philippe lui dit: Viens et vois.

47 Jésus, voyant venir Nathanaël, dit de lui: Voici un véritable Israëlite, en qui il n'y a point de fraude.

48 Nathanaël lui dit: D'où me connais-tu ? Jésus lui répondit: Avant que Philippe t'appelât, je t'ai vu quand tu étais sous un figuier.

49 Nathanaël lui répondit: Maître, tu es le Fils de Dieu, tu es le Roi d'Israël.

50 Jésus lui répondit: Parce que

44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him. Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. 49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

50 Jesus answered and said unto

CHAPITRE II.

TRO ROIS jours après, on faisait des notes a Cann en Galilee, et la mère de Jésus y était.

2 Et Jésus fut aussi convié aux noces, lui et ses disciples.

3 Le vin ayant manqué, la mère de Jésus lui dit: Ils n'ont plus de vin.

4 Mais Jésus lui répondit: Femme, qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi? mon heure n'est pas encore venue.

5 Sa mère dit à ceux qui servaient Faites tout ce qu'il vous dira.

6 Or, il y avait là six vaisseaux de pierre, mis pour servir aux purifications des Juifs, et qui tenaient chacun deux ou trois mesures.

7 Jésus leur dit: Emplissez d'eau ces vaisseaux; et ils les emplirent jusqu'au haut.

51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

CHAPTER II.

AND the third day there was a

marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there; 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. 7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he saith unto them, Draw

11 Jésus commença ainsi à faire des miracles à Cana, ville de Galilée, et il manifesta sa gloire; et ses disciples crurent en lui.

9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was, (but the servants which drew the water knew,) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him. Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk. then that which is worse but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
