OR, A SECOND LATIN READING-BOOK, ADAPTED TO THE ELEMENTARY LATIN GRAMMAR. BY BENJAMIN HALL KENNEDY, D.D., PREBENDARY OF LICHFIELD. LONDON: LONGMAN, BROWN, GREEN, AND LONGMANS, PATERNOSTER-ROW. PREFACE. THE Second Latin Reading-Book is one of a series of works designed by the Author for the instruction of boys in the Latin language." For the use of beginners he has published the Child's Latin Primer, the First Latin Vocabulary, and Tirocinium, or a First Latin Reading-Book. When thoroughly conversant with these books, the learner may begin to use the Elementary Latin Grammar. As an accompaniment to this Grammar the Second Latin Reading-Book is now published. The method of using it is explained in the Notes. The learner is supposed to have access to some elementary works on Mythology and Antiquities, and to a Latin Dictionary in which Proper Names are comprised. On this account it has not appeared necessary or desirable to add a large body of notes. The Compendium of Roman History contained in this volume is borrowed from the excellent abridgment of Professor Lhomond. Reference is made in the Notes to Mr. Arnold's Latin Prose Composition.
