BE it remembered that on the fifteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, and in the thirty eighth year of the Independence of the United States of America, Rufus W. Adams of said digtrict hath deposited in this office the title of a Book, the right whereof he claims, as author, in the words following, to wit, “ THE YOUNG GENTLEMAN AND Lady's EXPLANATORY Monitor,” a selection from the best authors extant, upon a new plan designed for schools; by Rufus W. Adama. In conformity to an act of Congress of the United States entitled “ an act for the encouragement of learning by securing. the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned." And also, of the act entitled an act supplementary to an act entitled an act for the encouragement of learning by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the authors and proprietors if such copies during the times therein mentioned, and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of desigi.ing, engraving and etebing historical and other prints.
