The Library of Congress is a unique national

institution which, thanks to Congress, no other nation in the world has been able to equal. In an age in which every individual is information dependent, the Library is quite simply one of America's greatest national resources. This nation's library must continue to grow. Excellence in education, in research, in corporate enterprise depends upon resources of knowledge and information being made available to inquiring minds. We all know this. We need increased financial resources to establish a solid foundation for knowledge and learning in America as we move into our third century.
