Both amounts include Social Security and Unemployment taxes; 1993 also includes recognition of the liability for future retirees' insurance (FASB 106).

A grievance may be any problem, circumstance, or condition of employment which an employee feels is unfair or discriminatory.

Policy

This Bank is committed to maintaining an environment in which employees feel free to communicate their questions or concerns about Bank policies, procedures, working conditions, etc., and in which those matters are promptly addressed by management. Most questions or concerns can be resolved through open discussion between the employee and his or her immediate supervisor. This policy provides a formal mechanism for resolving those situations or grievances which are not resolved by the immediate supervisor.

Procedure

The employee should first discuss the grievance with his or her immediate supervisor. If the supervisor is not able to resolve the matter, the employee should discuss the matter with his or her section head or department manager.

If the grievance is still unresolved, the employee should discuss the matter with the department officer.

If the grievance is still unresolved, the employee should discuss the matter with a Personnel officer. The Personnel officer will attempt to resolve the grievance to the mutual satisfaction of all parties.

If the grievance is still unresolved, the employee may submit the grievance in writing to the Senior Policy Committee who will consider the grievance and reach a decision as promptly as possible. The Senior Policy Committee consists of the President, the First Vice President, the Senior Vice Presidents, and the General Counsel.

While employees are encouraged to handle grievances through their department management, there may be instances where employees feel uncomfortable discussing a grievance with their department management. All employees should feel free to contact an employment counselor or Personnel officer on these matters. The Vice President of Personnel is also the Bank's Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator and is available to discuss any concerns related to complaints of discrimination.
