This parish is gradually increasing, but in common with others, feels most sensibly, the depression of the times-and the more so, as there is a debt, of some $600 upon the building yet unpaid-which it was originally expected, would be liquidated, by Trinity Church, N. York city-such expectation being held out,at the time of building. It needs very much fostering care for a few years, when it is confidently expected, that the church will be firmly established, and be able to render to others the aid, it now so much needs itself.

St. John's Church, Richford; the Rev. A. LOUDERBACK, Missionary.

Although the Missionary has not been able, to visit this parish, but once in the past year; yet they have not been wholly destitute of the services of the churcha Lay Reader, having been provided for them once a month. The congregation, by death and removals, has been reduced, to some 7 or 8 communicants, and the prospect of better days is gloomy. There have been, during the two years, two deaths of communicants. The Holy Communion, has been celebrated once, and preaching seven times.

A collection of $1 20, has been made.

The above report extends from the beginning of November, 1842, to the middle of August, 1843, a period of nine months and a half. During the past year, the

church has been modernized and repaired at an expense of upwards of $1,200, of which there remained due about $650 when I took charge of the parish. By the sale of pews and by subscriptions, this balance has been paid off, with the exception of about $200, which will be liquidated by the pew rents of the present year.

In reference to spiritual, as well as temporal things, we may say, that “hitherto the Lord hath helped us."

SUPPLEMENT.

The following reports (excepting that of Zion church,Bridgeport, which was mislaid) did not come to hand in season to be inserted in their proper place.

CHAUTAUQUE COUNTY.

St. James' Church, La Grange; a newly organized parish, not yet in union with the Convention. The Rev. ROBERT CAMPBELL, Missionary.

Congregation: Families 21; (adults 45, children 64 :) total number of individuals 109; baptisms: adults 3; confirmed 9; communicants: (admitted 6, received 2 :) total added 8; removed 2; present number 11; marriage 1; burials 4; public services: on Sundays 92, on other days 8; total number of services 100.

The above report includes in it my services (half the time) in La Grange since the first Sunday in September, 1841, up to the present time. I entered on my duties here, under rather dicouraging circumstances; there being but three Episcopalians to listen to and join in the services, one of which removed from this place the day following. Heaven has blessed our feeble efforts to disseminate truth beyond the most sanguine expectations, and against opposition deliberate and determined.

Besides the above services, I have officiated one Sunday for the Rev. L. Smith, in Fredonia; and three times'in Forrestville, previous to the relinquishment of his charge of these parishes, on account of his feeble health. Since the resignation of Mr. Smith, I have officiated in Forrestville every second Sunday, and have to report the state of the parish the same as reported last by my Rev. predecessor; there were three dollars collected there sometime ago and forwarded to the Treasurer for Diocesan Missions.

Since the 23d of April last, I have given my services alternately to La Grange, Silver Creek and Forrestville, I would state also, that on the 28th of July last, Í visited a few families of Episcopalians who reside in Collins, Erie county, preached on the evening of the same day and baptized a child; the next day I married a couple.

JEFFERSON COUNTY.

St. Paul's Church, Brownville; the Rev. FERDINAND ROGERS, Rector.
