There is also a regular service for the day appointed by the Governor of the State as a day of public Thanksgiving.

of the Rev. The ladies of the parish have commenced a sewing society, which promises to be productive of much benefit. At a fair recently held in the parish, by six young girls, members of the Sunday school, the effects and proceeds of a sewing society of their own, which had been in operation but a few weeks, they obtained the amount of thirty two dollars, which they design principally for the purchase of Sunday School books, which speaks much to their praise, and shows how the young (as missionaries to the Church,) can appropriate their leisure hours to the promotion of truth, virtue, and religion.

This parish has during the year completed a subscription, sufficient to pay the debt with which it has been heretofore burdened. In building their Church and paying their debts, this society has never received $50 aid from beyond its own bo rders; and this day voluntarily ceases to be a Missionary station.

In regard to its spiritual concerns, there is nothing remarkable. The effect of the political excitement of the day, upon both the congregation and communicants, is evidently unhappy.

St. Luke's Church, Royalton, Niagara county; the Rev. EBENEZER H. CRESSEY, Officiating Minister.*

I have given occasional services to this parish during the year. Divine service has been maintained by Lay reading on the morning of each Sunday, to which I have been able generally to add the evening service and a sermon. The congregations have uniformly been respectable in numbers and attentive to the ministrations of the Church. One infant baptism. The communion administered once, at which there were present 15 communicants. The parish greatly needs the full and regular services of a clergyman, who would be gladly received, and whose field of labor would be at once interesting and encouraging.

Christ Church, Bridgewater, Oneida county; the Rev. SETH DAVIS, Missionary.

Congregation: Families 13; (adults 38, children 34,) total 72; Baptisms, (Infant 1;) Confirmed 6; Communicants (admitted) 7; present number 10; Marriage 1; Burials 3; Public Services, on Sundays for half of the time, always 2; and for some part of the year 3; on other days for a part of the year, 1; making in all not far from 75 services; Children catechised always when they could be assembled.

The Sunday School has been so small that there has been no regular organization. The prospect is more encouraging in this department of benevolence at present than it has been heretofore, as we have now a more permanent place of worship. The monthly collections have not as yet been made in this parish.

This parish has been organized but one year. At the time of its organization there was not a communicant of the Church in the place. A neat and convenient chapel has since been erected, and a respectable and attentive congregation regularly assemble whenever there are services. A small band of communicants now meet around the altar to receive the consecrated symbols of a Saviour's dying love.

St. Paul's Church, Holland Patent, Oneida county; the Rev. STEPHEN MCHUGH, Missionary.

Congregation: Families 26; Baptisms [infants] 5; Communicants added, [receiv. ed] 1; Removed 1; Present number 37; Marriages 5; Burials 2; Public Services on Sundays 1, at times 2; Sunday School 1; Teachers (male 2, female 3,) 5; Pupils 24. The monthly collections have been made and appropriated as follows, viz:

I have, as heretofore, given a morning service on each Sunday at Holland Patent, at times an evening service also. I have officiated on Good Friday, and my impres sion is, on Ash Wednesday, but am not fully certain. As it respects catechetical examinations I cannot get the children in before morning service, and having to proceed to Oriskany immediately after its termination, I have been hitherto prevented from attending to this very important part of my duty in such a way as I could wish. The number in attendance on the ministrations of the Church have been steadily increasing since the date of my last report, and I have daily proofs that the prejudices which once existed against the Church here are removing very fast, and from being much the smallest in number we are now about as numerically strong, as it regards attendance on the services of the sanctuary, as any other congregation in the village; still there is much room for improvement, more especially in getting our hearers and supporters to be more intimately connected with us in the bond of faith; and our trust is that our Divine Head will shew them by his spirit the necessity of being so. With such confidence our determination is to labor and faint not.

The Rev. Stephen Douglass has since been appointed the Missionary at this station.

St. Michael's Church, Geneseo, Livingston county; the Rev. LLOYD WINDSOR, Rector.

Congregation: Families about 50; Baptisms: (infants) 11; Communicants, (received 9, added 3,) 12; (removed 8,) Present number 44; Marriages 2; Burials 7.

Public Services: regularly twice on Sundays, and a lecture on Sunday evening in the neighborhood. Lectures also on Wednesday evenings in the Church part of the year. Children catechised occasionally in the Sunday School. The Rector is now forming a class to be catechised monthly on Sundays at the Chancel; believ ing as he firmly does, that this is the most important movement the Church is now making to regain her ancient position.

This parish is slowly but surely progressing in a temporal and spiritual point of view. All its debts which have burdened it almost since the Church was erected have been discharged. The number in attendance on the services may safely be said to be on the increase.

Besides the above contributions, the Ladies of the congregation, by the means of fairs held during the past and present years, have purchased and presented to the Church a handsome and fine toned organ.

Occasionally I have officiated for a third time on Sunday, as well as on other days, at Moscow and Perry village. In the latter place I have baptized 4 children; always preached to large congregations, and been solicited for more frequent services.

During the winter months, I officiated generally twice on each Sunday. Since that period owing to the state of my health, and the distance of my residence from Perryville, I have preached but once on each Sunday.

The system of monthly collections has been adopted after the recommendation of the Bishop. It is well approved by the friends of the Church. The strength of the Church is but feeble, yet they are willing to do according to their ability.

Another monthly collection, in addition to these, was made, but as the gentleman who forwarded the collections to the Treasurer kept no account of them, it is impossible to state the object to which that was appropriated. The whole amount contributed is not far from $26.

Our only plea for any deficiency either in the number or amount of our collections, is our poverty. This is honestly made, and it is hoped it will be received as suffi cient. There is nothing of special interest to report in reference to the parish. In our infancy we find it extremely difficult to bear up under the pecuniary pressure of the times; but we have reason for gratitude, that as yet we have not been cast down and that we are enabled to hope for the future. The house in which we meet, and always have met for public worship, still belongs to others. To secure this, would be to human view, to insure the permanence and prosperity of the society. To the attainment of this desirable object, the Missionary intends to direct his special efforts the ensuing year.

I should state, as my apology for omitting to fill up the blank in the report in relation to catechetical instruction, that the Missionary personally superintends the Sunday School; and that the catechism is required to be learned by every pupil.
