LONDON MARKETS, FEB. 20, 1818.

COTTON.-We mentioned the renewed inquiry for cotton on the forenoon of Tuesday last; it has led to very extensive purchases; the sales since our last exceed 3.000 packages: there has been much speculation, both in this market and in Liverpool, in Pernambuco cotton, in anticipation that the supplies of Sea Island will this season be very deficient, and that they will be substituted in the manufactures for the American Sea Islands; no good Pernams now offer under 28. 2d. The East India cotton sale on the 20th, will consist of 13,000 Bengals, and

200 Bourbon. The purchases of cotton in London for the week, consist of-1,200 Pernambuco, 2s. Oдd. to 2s. 14d.; 280 Bahia, 234d. to 2s. ; 130 Mina, 22d, to 22fd.; 95 Demerara and Berbice, 214d. to £34d. ; 51 Surinam, 29 d. to 28. Od.; and exclusive of duty, 600 Bengals were sold, 108. to 12 d., the greater proportion of the latter for exportation: and 750 Surats realized an advance of d. to jd. per lb. on the East India sale prices, selling from 144d. to 1548.
