bill from the Senate, entitled "An act for the relief of Aquila Giles;" and after some time spent therein, Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Desha reported the same without amendment. Ordered. That the said bill be read a third time to-day. The said bill was accordingly read the third time; and passed. Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith. A message from the Senate, by Mr. Cutts, their Secretary: Mr. Speaker: The Senate have passed bills of this House of the following titles, to wit:

An act in addition to, and alteration of, an act, entitled "An act laying a duty on imported salt, granting a bounty on pickled fish exported, and allowances to certain vessels employed in the fisheries,"

An act to authorize the Secretary of War to convey a lot or parcel of land belonging to the United States, lying in Jefferson county, Virginia,

An act for the relief of John M.Causland,

An act to authorize the sale of certain military sites.

They have postponed until to-morrow, the bill, entitled "An act concerning invalid pensioners," and they have passed a bill, entitled "An act to establish a new land office in the state of Illinois;" in which bill they ask the concurrence of this House. And then he withdrew.

Mr. Wilson of Pennsylvania, from the Joint committee for Enrolled Bills, reported that they had examined enrolled bills of the following titles, to wit:

An act to authorize the President of the United States to take possession of East and West Florida, and establish a temporary government therein,

An act in addition to, and alteration of, an act, entitled "An act laying a duty on salt imported into the United States, granting a bounty on pickled fish exported, and allowances to certain vessels employed in the fisheries,"

An act for the relief of Recs Hill,

An act authorizing the purchase of fire engines, and for building houses for the safe keeping of the same,

An act for the relief of Aquila Giles,

An act for the relief of Michael Hogan,

An act for adjusting claims to land, and establishing land offi ces in the districts east of the Island of New Orleans,

An act for the relief of John M.Causland,

An act to authorize the Secretary of War to convey a lot or parcel of ground belonging to the United States, lying in Jefferson county, in the state of Virginia; and,

An act to authorize the sale of certain military sites; and found the same to be truly enrolled; when,

The Speaker signed the said bills.

Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith. Mr. Taylor moved the House to come to the following order: Ordered, That no printing directed by this House to be execut ed, shall be received from the printer by the officers thereof, after the first day of May next.

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Cutts, their Secretary:

Mr. Speaker: the Senate have received official information that the President of the United States did, this day, approve and sign enrolled bills of the following titles, to wit:

An act for the relief of Nathan G. Birdseye and Daniel Boothe, An act providing for the correction of errors in making entries of land at the land offices,

An act making provision for the civilization of the Indian tribes, adjoining the frontier settlements,

An act granting a donation of land to the state of Illinois, for the seat of government of said state,

An act making appropriations to carry into effect treaties concluded with several Indian tribes therein mentioned,

An act to provide for the due execution of the laws of the United States within the state of Illinois,

An act for the relief of John Rice Jones,

An act to protect the commerce of the United States and punish the crime of piracy,

An act in addition to an act concerning tonnage and discriminating duties in certain cases,

An act respecting the location of certain sections of land to be granted for the seat of government in the state of Indiana,

An act further to suspend, for a limited time, the sale or forfeiture of lands for failure in completing the payment thereon,

An act to designate the boundaries of districts, and establish land offices for the disposal of the public lands, not heretofore offer. ed for sale in the states of Ohio and Indiana,

An act to continue in force for a further term, the act, entitled "An act for establishing trading houses with the Indian tribes, and for other purposes."

An act to repeal part of an act passed the 27th day of February, 1813, entitled "An act in addition to an act regulating the post office establishment,"

An act for the relief of B. and P. Jourdan, brothers,

An act to continue in force an act regulating the currency within the United States, of the gold coins of Great Britain, France, Portugal and Spain, and the crowns of France, and five franc pieces,

An act authorizing the purchase of fire engines, and for building houses for the safe keeping of the same,

A message was received from the President of the United States by Mr. Gouverneur, his Secretary, notifying that the President did, on the 2d instant, approve and sign an enrolled bill, entitled An act establishing a separate territorial government in the southern part of the territory of Missouri;" and on this day enrolled bills, and an enrolled resolution, of the following titles, to wit:

Always entertaining for this House the highest consideration, the expres sion of your approbation conveys a gratification as pure as it is indiscribable. I owe it to truth, however, to say. gentlemen, that, but for the almost unlimited confidence with which you have constantly sustained the chair, I should have been utterly incompetent to discharge its arduous duties.

If, gentlemen, in the course of our deliberations, momentary irritation has been at any time felt, or unkind expressions have ever, in the heat of debate, fallen from any of us, let these unpleasant incidents be Consigned to oblivion, and let us recollect only, the anxious desire which
