PREFACE. On completing the thirteenth volume of the Ladies' Pocket Magazine, the Editor takes the opportunity of returning his grateful acknowledgments for the increasing patronage his little favorite continues to receive, and to assure his fair friends that every effort will be used to merit a still further share of their favors.. : The Engravings will continue to be furnished by eminent artists, from pleasing and interesting designs by the most eminent masters of the British and Foreign Schools of Paint. ing and of themselves will be found worth more than the cost of the book. These, as well as the Fashions, are now executed on Steel; by which means our friends are equally furnished with good impressions: which was not the case at the time they were engraved on copper. Our best thanks are due to numerous Correspondents; a continuance of whose contributions will be gratefully received and acknowledged. Those persons who are in want of any numbers or volumes to complete their sets, are advised to procure them immediately, as every day lessens the chance of the possibility of obtaining them: and as none of the previous years will be again reprinted, complete sets must become scarce.
