AMENDMENT

Proposed by Mr. Appleton of Bangor, (in House of Representatives, July 20, 1849,) to the bill entitled "an act additional in relation to the assessment and collection of taxes on lands in unincorporated places."

Strike out all after the enacting clause and insert as follows:

SECTION 1. The third section of the act to which 2 this is additional is amended by adding thereto the 3 words following: no moneys shall be deducted for 4 any sums due from the counties for taxes assessed by 5 the state on lands in unincorporated places, unless the 6 taxes assessed on such lands, or so much as may be 7 deducted, have been received at the treasurer's office 8 of such county, or the lands taxed forfeited, under 9 the provisions of the act to which this is additional.

2 ally in the month of May, make a full return of all

3 taxes received at his office assessed on unincorporated 4 lands within his county.
