Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That Secretary the Secretary of State be authorized and directed to contract to contract with with Little & Brown to furnish their annual Statutes at Large for their annual printed in conformity with the plan adopted by Congress in Statutes at Large. eighteen hundred and forty-five instead of the edition usually issued by his order, under the act of Congress of April, twentieth, eighteen hundred and eighteen, and which conforms to an edition of the Laws now out of use. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That A sum to be the proper officer be, and he hereby is, directed to pay to Jona- paid to Jonathan Shelton, adminthan Shelton administrator of Sarah Stokes, deceased, out of istrator of Sarah Stokes, to be dis. the money appropriated for the payment of revolutionary pensions, the sum of three hundred ninety-three dollars and thirtytwo cents, the same being the amount of pension due the said Sarah Stokes on the day of her decease, by virtue of an act of Congress passed on the fifth day of August eighteen hundred and forty-eight, (excepting what would accrue from March fourth, eighteen hundred and forty-one to March fourth, eighteen hundred and forty-three,) to be by the said Jonathan Shelton administrator as aforesaid, distributed to the children of said Sarah Stokes, in the same manner as arrearages of pensions are distributed to the children of deceased pensioners. [No. 19.]-A RESOLUTION relative to the Public Printing. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House, and the Clerk of the Joint Committee on Printing, jointly be, and they hereby are, authorized and empowered to examine, audit, and pass upon all accounts for printing, except they shall not audit or allow the account for printing the obituary notices on the death of President Taylor, to make a pro rata reduction in the compensation allowed, or to refuse the work altogether, should it be inferior to the standard, and in all things to possess the same power over the public. printing as is conferred upon the Joint Committee on Printing by the joint resolution approved August 3d, eighteen hundred and forty-six: Provided, That the authority hereby conferred shall only be exercised Proviso.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives Provisions of the United States of America in Congress assembled, Th granting the provisions of the second section of the act entitled "A half-pay to wid, act amending the act entitled 'An act granting half-pay etc., of July 21, widows or orphans where their husbands and fathers have di of wounds received in the military service of the Unit States,"" approved July twenty-one, eighteen hundred a forty-eight, extended by the act of February twenty-two, eig teen hundred and forty-nine, shall be construed to embrace t widows and orphans of all persons designated therein, w died while in actual service in the late war with Mexico, or going to, and returning from the same; and also to the widow and orphans of all such persons, as, having been honorab discharged, or having resigned, shall have died after the passag of said last mentioned act, or who may hereafter die, of woun received or from disease contracted while in said service: Pr vided, That the army rolls showing the death of any of sa persons in the army, shall be sufficient evidence to establish th fact.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS a Convention between the United States of America and his Majesty, the Emperor of Brazil, for the adjustment of claims of citizens of the United States against the Brazilian Government, was concluded and signed by their Plenipotentiaries at Rio de Janeiro, on the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine, which Convention, being in the English and Portuguese languages, is word for word, as follows:

ARTICLE 1.

The two high contracting disposition of the parties, appreciating the diffiU.
