3 FATHER, Thy mercies past we own,
Thy still continued care,

To Thee presenting, through Thy SON,'
Whate'er we have, or are.

4 Our lips and lives shall gladly show
The wonders of Thy love,
While on in JESU's steps we go
To see Thy face above.

5 Our residue of days or hours
Thine, wholly Thine shall be;
And all our consecrated powers
A sacrifice to Thee;

6. Till JESUS in the clouds appear
To saints on earth forgiven,
And bring the grand sabbatic year,
The jubilee of heaven.

Hymn.

New Year.

1 COME, let us anew Our journey pursue, Roll round with the year,

And never stand still, till the Master appear!

2 His adorable will Let us gladly fulfil, And our talents improve,

By the patience of hope, and the labour of love.

3 Our life is a dream, Our time as a stream Glides swiftly away;

And the fugitive moment refuses to stay.

4 O that each in the day. Of his coming may say, "I have fought my way through;

I have finish'd the work Thou didst give me to do.”

5 O that each from his LORD May receive the glad word,

"Well and faithfully done!

Enter into My joy, and sit down on My Throne,"

Hymn,

New Year..

1 WHILE with ceaseless course the sun

Hasted thro' the former year, {(0)

Many souls their race have run,

Never more to meet us here:

2 Fix'd in an eternal state,

They have done with all below; We a little longer wait,

But how little-none can know.

3 As the winged arrow flies,

Speedily the mark to find; As the lightning from the skies

Darts, and leaves no trace behind; #

4 Swiftly thus our fleeting days

Bear us down life's rapid stream: Upwards, LORD, our spirits raise; All below is but a dream.

5 Thanks for mercies past receive,
Pardon of our sins renew;

Teach us, henceforth, how to live
With eternity in view:

6 Bless Thy Word to young and old,
Fill us with a SAVIOUR'S love;
And when life's short tale is told,
May we dwell with Thee above.

Hymn.

New Year.

1 SEE! another year is gone!
Quickly have the seasons pass'd!
This we enter now upon
May to many prove their last.

2 Mercy hitherto has spar'd,'

But have mercies been improv'd?
Let us ask, Am I prepar'd
Should I be this year remov'd?

3 Some we now no longer see,

Who their mortal race have run, Seem'd as fair for life as we, When the former year begun :

4 Some (but who God only knows,) Who are here assembled now,

Ere the present year shall close,

To the stroke of death must bow.

5 Life a field of battle is;
Thousands fall within our view;
And the next death-bolt that flies
May be sent to me or you:

6 While we preach, and while we hear,
Help us, LORD! each one to think,
Vast eternity is near,

I am standing on the brink.

7 If from guilt and sin set free,
By the knowledge of Thy grace,
Welcome, then, the call will be
To depart and see Thy face.

8 To Thy saints, while here below,
With new years, new mercies come;
But the happiest year they know
Is their last, which leads them home.

Hymn.

New Year.

1 MY helper GOD! I bless His Name:
The same His pow'r, His grace the same,
The tokens of His friendly care
Open, and crown the closing year.

2 I'midst ten thousand dangers stand,
Supported by His guardian hand;
And see, when I survey my ways,
Ten thousand monuments of praise.

3 Thus far His arm hath led me on;
Thus far I make His mercy known;
And while I tread the desert land,
New mercies shall new songs demand..

4 My grateful soul on Jordan's shore
Shall raise one sacred pillar more;
Then bear, in His bright courts above,
Inscriptions of immortal love..

Hymn.

New Year

1 COME, Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace!
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of ceaseless, praise:
Teach me some melodious anthem,
Sung by flaming tongues above;
Fix my inmost pow'rs, and grant them
Loudly to proclaim Thy love.

2 Here I raise my Ebenezer,

Hither by Thy help I'm come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home

JESUS sought me when a stranger
Wand'ring from the fold of GOD;
He, to save my soul from danger, ..
Interposed His precious blood.

3 O! to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrain'd, to be!
Let that grace, LORD, like a fetter,
Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee!
