Christ our Day-star. 1 W HEN, marshalld on the mighty plain,

The glittring host bestud the sky, One star alone of all the trains

Can fire the sinner's wond'ring eye. 2 Hark! hark! to God the chorus breaks

From ev'ry host, from ev'ry gem; But one alone the SAVIOUR speaks

It is the star of Bethlehem. 3 Once on the raging seas I rode,

The storm was loud, the night was dark, The ocean yawn'd, and rudely blow'd

The wind that toss'd my found'ring bark. 4 JESUS, my star, my guide, my all, .

'Twas Thine to bid my terrors cease; And through the storm, and danger's thrall,

To lead me to the port of peace.. 5 Now safely moor’d, my perils o'er,

This, this shall be my endless theme For ever and for evermore,

Jesus, the star of Bethlehem !

: Liymn. .

Christ our Captain and Guide. 1 CAPTAIN of Israel's host, and Guide

Of all who seek the land above, Beneath thy shadow we abide,

The cloud of Thy protecting love: Our strength Thy grace, our rule Thy Word, Our end the glory of the LORD. .,

2 By Thy unerring SPIRIT led,

We shall not in the desert stray ;
We shall no other counsel need,

Nor miss our providential way;
As far from danger as from fear,
While love, almighty love, is near,

Christ our only Saviour. 11 JESUS, the spring of joys divine,

Whence all our hopes and comfort flow ; Jesus, no other Name but Thine

Can save us from eternal woe.
2 In vain would boasting reason find

The way to happiness and God;
Her weak directions leave the mind !

Bewilder'd in a dubious road..

3 No other Name will heaven approve:

Thou art the true, the living Way, (Ordain'd by everlasting Love,)

To the bright realms of endless day.

4 Here let our constant feet abide,

Nor from the heavenly path depart;
O let Thy SPIRIT, gracious Guide,

Direct our steps, and cheer our heart!

5 Safe lead us through this world of night,

And bring us to the blissful plains,
The regions of unclouded light,

Where perfect joy for ever reigns..

Christ our Friend indeed.
1 ONE there is, above all others,

Well deserves the name of Friend;
His is love beyond a brother's,
· Costly, free, and knows no end :
They who once His kindness prove,

Find it everlasting love!
2 Which of all our friends, to save us,

Could or would have shed their blood ?
But our JESUS died to have us

Reconcil'd in Him to GOD:
This was boundless love indeed!
Jesus is a Friend in need.
3 When He lived on earth abased,

Friend of sinners was His Name;
Now, above all glory raised,

He rejoices in the same:
Still He calls them brethren, friends,

And to all their wants attends.
4 Could we bear from one another

What He daily bears from us?
Yet this glorious Friend and Brother

Loves us though we treat Him thus :
Though for good we render ill,

He accounts us brethren still.
5 Oh! for grace our hearts to soften!

Teach us, LORD, at length to love:
We, alas! forget too often,

What a Friend we have above:
But when home our souls are brought
We will love Thee as we ought.

1 POOR, weak, and worthless though I am,

I have a rich almighty Friend; Jesus, the SAVIOUR, is His Name,

He freely loves, and without end.

2 He ransom'd me from hell with blood,

And by His power my foes controlld; He found me wand'ring far from GOD,

And brought me to His chosen fold.

3 He cheers my heart, my wants supplies,

And says that I shall shortly be Enthron'd with Him above the skies:

O! what a Friend is CHRIST to me!

4 But ah! my inmost spirit mourns,

And well my eyes with tears may swim, To think of my perverse returns;

I've been a faithless friend to Him.

5 Often my gracious Friend I grieve,

Neglect, distrust, and disobey; And often Satan's lies believe,

Sooner than all my Friend can say

6 Sure were I not thus vile and base,

I could not thus my Friend requite; And were not He the God of grace,

He'd frown and spurn me from His sight,

Christ our Way to the Father.

I JESUS, my all, to heaven is gone,

He whom I fix my hopes upon;
His track I see, and Pll pursue
The narrow way, till Him I view.

2 The way the holy prophets went,

The road that leads from banishment,
The King's highway of holiness,

I'll go; for all His paths are peace. 3 This is the Way I long have sought,

And mourn'd because I found it not;
My grief my burden long has been,
Because I could not cease from sin.

4 The more I strove against it's power,

I sinn'd and stumbled but the more;
Till late I heard my SAVIOUR say,
Come hither, soul, “I AM THE WAY."

5 Lo! glad I come; and Thou, blest LAMB,

Shalt take me to Thee as I am: My sinful self to Thee I give; Nothing but love shall I receive.

6 Then will I tell to sinners round

What a dear SAVIOUR I have found;
I'll point to Thy redeeming blood, .
