E it enacted by the Senate and House of Reprefentatives of the United States of America, in Congress affembled, That from and after the first day of May anno Domini one in flag of thousand seven hundred and ninety-five, the flag of the United States, be fifteen stripes alternate red and white. That the Union be fifteen stars, white in a blue field.

Sect. 2. An Act in Alteration of the Act establishing a
Mint and regulating the Coins of the United

States.

Sec. 1.

E it enacted by the Senate and House of Reprefentatives of the United States of America, in Congress affembled, That Duty of from and after the paffing this act, it fhall be of the mint the duty of the treasurer of the mint, to receive herein.

and give receipts for all metals which may lawfully be brought to the mint to be coined; and for the purpose of afcertaining their refpective qualities, fhall deliver from every parcel fo received, a fufficient number of grains to the affayer, who fhall affay all fuch of them as may require it. And the faid treasurer fhall from time to time deliver the faid metals to the chief coiner to be coined in fuch quantities as the director of the mint may prescribe.. See. And be it further enacted, That the chief coiner aflayer and chief coiner of the mint, previous bond, &c. to entering upon the execution of their refpective offices fhall each become bound to the United States of America with one or more fureties to the fatisfaction of the fecretary of the treafury,' the faid affayer in the fum of one thousand dollars, and the faid chief coiner in the fum of five thousand dollars, with condition for the faithful and diligent performance of the duties of his office.
