DESCRIPTION OF THE MONTHLY PLATES.

FIRST PLATE.

CARRIAGE DRESS.-Pale orange-striped satin robe, half high corsage, trimmed with a double lappel cut in dents. Tight sleeve, with jockeys composed of two biais, the edges finished to correspond with the lappel. A lace frill, quilled very full, stands up round the top of the corsage. Black velvet chapeau, an oval brim of small size meeting under the chin. It is ornamented with lace laid plain all round, but narrow over the forehead; long gerbes of deep orange exotics descend on each side. A superb orange willow feather, spotted with black, and velvet knots, adorn the exterior. Violet velvet mantelet: it is one of the new scarfs, formed to sit close, in the pelerine style, to the shape; it is lined with rose noisette satin, and trimmed with the same arranged in bouillons, with fancy silk trimming in the centre of each.

MORNING VISITING DRESS.-Pomona green levantine robe: it is of the redingote form, corsage en V, half high, and tight to the shape; it is ornamented in the stomacher style, with nauds formed of cords and tassels to correspond. A tablier en suite adorns the skirt. Tight sleeve, with a double jockey; it is composed of two folds each, ornamented with a nud. Capote of blue velours épinglé, lined with white satin; a close shape-the exterior trimmed with an intermixture of lace and ribbon entwined in a very novel manner, and a white knotted plume. HALF-LENGTH FIGURES.

No. 3. PARIS PUBLIC PROMENADE DRESS.Apple green satin mantle, lined with rose-coloured satin; it is made full from the shoulders, long, and extremely ample; it is formed to the shape round the upper part of the bust by a dark green velvet pelerine, arranged en cœur, and trimmed with two rose-coloured satin rouleaus placed at some distance from each other. The velvet descends in the form of a broken cone down each front; the rouleaus are also continued: the centre is ornamented in the hussar style, with dark green braiding and brandebourgs. Large sleeves with velvet cuffs, bordered with rose-coloured satin rouleaus. Rose-coloured satin capote, trimmed in a very light style, with ribbon to correspond, and small sprigs of flowers.

No. 5. DEMI-TOILETTE.-Pink pou de Soie robe; corsage en gerbe, and long tight sleeve. White satin chapeau, a round open brim; the interior trimmed with small pink flowers; the exterior with a torsade of white satin ribbon, and a bouquet formed of the tops of white curled ostrich feathers. Green velvet muntelet; it is of a large size, sits close up to the throat, with a falling collar, trimmed with green fringe of a light pattern; a heart lappel, edged with fringe, forms it to the shape of the bust; it falls low behind, descends in front in long and very full scarf ends, and is bordered with fringe.

SECOND PLATE.

LONDON CARRIAGE DRESS.-Grey figured satin robe; the corsage a three-quarter height, and tight to the shape, is partially covered with a small embroidered cambric pelerine. Long tight sleeve. Rich silk cloak; a deep blue dead ground, striped in satin stripes of a darker shade; it is considerably shorter than the dress, the fronts are rounded, and the entire bordered with two rows of velvet ribbon, edged with fancy silk trimming. A velvet pelerine en cœur, corresponding with the trimming, forms the shape of the upper part of the bust in a particularly graceful manner. The lining of groseille satin is quilted in a new pattern. Dark blue velvet bonnet, a small round shape; the interior trimmed at the sides with tufts of Provence roses, without foliage; the exterior is ornamented with a bouquet of blue and white shaded feathers, disposed en gerbe, and attached by a knot of blue velvet ribbon.

MORNING CONCERT DRESS.-Robe of fawncoloured levantine broché; corsage en Amazone, and tight sleeve. Violet velvet mantle, lined with maize-coloured satin, quilted in lozenges; the mantle, shorter than the dress, has the bottom trimmed with two black lace flounces, set on with very little fulness; the upper one is headed by a velvet rouleau; two square pelerines, that fall low, are bordered, as is also a round falling collar, with lace; the armholes are trimmed to correspond. Black velvet bonnet, lined with green velours épinglé, an open oval shape; the interior is trimmed in a new style, with coques of green and white ribbon and lace; the exterior with a bouquet of white and green willow feathers of great length and beauty.
