My own earliest recollections are of the village of Great Barrington. Here my father resided until about the year 1805, when he removed to a country part of the township of Great Barrington, known as Root Street, to a small farm which he rented. Here, when quite small I attended school kept by my sister, Sarah Jones. The school-house was almost a mile from my father's house, and on the line between Sheffield and Great Barrington townships. Here I obtained the rudiments of my education. [grandfather T. Strong's children were by the first Wife, Eli, Samuel, Sarah, and David: by the second wife, Mar tin, Levi, Timothy, and Deborah, (or Abi beside two who died.
