THERE are many peculiarities in my difpofition which diftinguish me from the whole race of fpeculative politicians, from Plato to that profound, learned, and elaborate political Coloffus, Mr. Samuel Johnson,

Johnfon, fome time fince advanced to the worshipful dignity of Doctor of Laws it may be prefumed, not the laws or conftitutions of England, as they lie fcattered in the feveral codes promulgated by our Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Norman ancestors, but rather thofe invaluable treasures collected from the

golden or bloody edicts of Imperial Rome. But to return; as I have addreffed you in the style of a client, it is fit that your Grace should be acquainted with those leading peculiarities which mark my character.

Being moft earnestly anxious to remain in the most impervious obfcurity, the great leading condition of any future connexion between
