My Lordis of Counsale: Unto your Lordships humblie menis and schewis we, your oratours, the priour and convent of the Freris Predicatours of the burgh of Perth, that quhair William Rolly, baxter-burgess of the said burgh, and Christiane Brewhous, the penult day of August, the yeir of God Imvxxx yeiris, resignit all and hale his yard and boith lyand in the foreland of Johne Pebillis, merchand, between ane boith of the said Johne on the west pairt, the entres of the yett to the inner boith of Patrick

Fynlaysone, and the land of the said William and Christiane, quhilk thai now inhabit, on the east and south pairts, and the Hie-gait on the north pairt, lyand within the said burgh, in the Lands of John Chrystesone, ane of the baillies of the said burgh for the tyme, for heretabill sesing to be gevin to us thairof, quha gaif us sesing of the samyn, as ane authentik instrument, maid to us thairupon, beiris. Nevirtheless the said William Rolly, synsyne upon ye xx day of September, the yeir of God Imvxxxviii resignit the said boith of new in the handis of Andro Blaket, ane of the baillies of the said burgh for the time, in favors of Gelis Cragy his niece and David Nevin hir spous, for heretabill infeftment to be gevin to thaim thairupon, in manifest defraud hurt and prejudice of us, the said William being denudit thairof, and havand nae power to resign the said of new agane, to oure grete skaith and expressly aganis justice. Heirfor we beseech your lordships we may haif summonds upon the said Gelis and her spous forsaid personalie, or at their dwelling place, and upon all utheris havand or pretendand thame to have interes thairin, by open proclamatione at the mercat croce of the said burgh for productione and reductione of the pretendit sesing and instrument maid and gevin to thame of the said boith for sic causes as we sall libell. [A petition on 4th July 1541 for summons against Gelis or Giles Craigie, and her husband David Niven, to whom, notwithstanding his former deed, William Rollo had on 20th September 1538 granted the booth.]

Oure will is heirfor, and we charge you straitlie and commandis that, incontinent thir oure lettres sene, ye call baith the parteis befoir you to tak cognitioun in the said mater, and gif it beis fundin that the said buith within the bounds above written pertenis to the said priour and convent, as patrimonie of thair said place, and thai saisit of the samyn in manner forsaid, and that the said personis, occupiaris thairof, restis awand to tham the malis thairof be the said space, That ye caus and compel thame to mak the said priour and convent payment of the samyn of all termes and yeirs bygane, sa far as thai will grant, or the said priour and convent may sufficientlie preif, and gif neid be, that ye poynd and distrinze thairfor, and mak thame be pait thairof, eftir the forme of thair infeftment.
