CHAPTER XVIII.

An Act to provide for placing Buoys on certain
Rocks off the Harbour of New-London, and in
Providence River, and other Places.

Sec. I.

E it enacted by the Senate and House of Reprefentatives of the United States of America, in Congrefs affembled, That the Secretary of the Treafury be authorized Secretary and directed to caufe to be placed buoys to place on the rocks called Black Ledge, or South- buoys off weft Ledge, Goshen Reef, Bartlet's Reef, and harbours. Race Rock, off the harbour of New-London, in the ftate of Connecticut, at an expenfe, not to exceed the fum of twelve hundred dollars ; and to caufe to be erected a beacon, and

to be placed two buoys in the harbour of Portfmouth, in the state of New-Hampshire, at an expenfe, not to exceed the fum of three hundred dollars: And likewife, to caufe to be placed in Providence river, in the ftate of Rhode Island, and in Savannah river, in the ftate of Georgia, and at the mouth of the fame, buoys, not exceeding ten in number, for each river, and at an expense, not to exceed the fum of five hundred dollars, for each; the fame to be placed in fuch parts of the faid rivers, as he may judge moft advantageous for the navigation thereof, refpectively.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That there be appropriated and paid out of the monies arifing from the duties on imports and tonnage, the fum of two thousand five hundred dollars for the purpose aforefaid.

E it enacted by the Senate and Houfe of
Reprefentatives of the United States of
America, in Congrefs affembled, That permif- Ephraim
fion be, and the fame is hereby granted to Kimberly
Ephraim Kimberly, now refident on the weft permitted
bank of the Ohio, near Indian Short-creek, certain
within the territory north-weft of the Ohio, to
locate the land-warrant iffued to the faid Kim-
berly, for three hundred acres of land, for his
fervices in the late American army, fo as to
include the land where he now refides, or as
convenient as may be, thereto : Provided, he under
doth not interfere with any exifting claim, lo- what re-
cation or furvey: And upon the faid Kimber-
ly's procuring the faid land to be furveyed, in
fuch way and manner, as fhall be pointed out
and directed by the President of the United
States, and returning his faid warrant into the
Treasury of the United States, the Prefident of
the United States fhall be, and he hereby is
authorized and empowered to iffue letters-
patent, in the name, and under the feal of the
United States, thereby granting and convey-
ing to the faid Ephraim Kimberly, the three
hundred acres of land, that shall be fo located
and furveyed.

An Act limiting the Time for prefenting Clairns for deftroyed Certificates of certain Defcrip

tions.

Section 1. E it enacted by the Senate and House of Reprefentatives of the Limitation United States of America, in Congress affembled, for renewal That all claims for the renewal of certificates of certain of the unfubfcribed debt of the United States, of the descriptions commonly called "LoanOffice Certificates," or "Final Settlements," which may have been accidentally deftroyed, fhall be forever barred and precluded from fettlement or allowance, unless the same shall be prefented at the treasury, on or before the first day of June, in the year one thousand feven hundred and ninety-five.

advertised for at least fix weeks fücceffively, in fome one of the newspapers of the state in which the destruction happened; and also, in fome-one of the newfpapers of the state in which the certificate iffued, if that was another state; the advertisement or advertisements, in fuch cafe, expreffing with as much precision as poffible, the number, date, and amount of the certificate alledged to have been destroyed, and the name of the perfon to whom the fame was iffued, together with the time when, the place where, and the means by which the same was destroyed.

And be it further enacted, That all claims for the renewal of destroyed certificates, and how By whom of either of the descriptions aforefaid, not pre- long to be cluded by this act, shall be receivable, with the evidence in fupport of the same, by the Auditor of the Treafury, until the faid first day of June, one thousand feven hundred and ninety-five, and fhall, by the accounting officers of the Treafury, be duly examined; and if fatisfactorily fupported, the claimants fhall be entitled to receive certificates of registered debt, equal to the fpecie-value of the loan-office or final-fettlement certificates fo proved to have been destroyed.
