These funds are requested to pay the agency (House) share of contributions to the following funds: The request for this account assumes that for every dollar paid to an employee under the current retirement systems, the House will pay 28.48 cents for benefits. As of December 30, 1999, 1,078 House employees were participating in CSRS as compared to 1,165 for the same month one-year ago. As of December 31, 1999, more than 88% of all House employees are enrolled in the FERS program. The maximum taxable wage base for Social Security and Medicare effective January 1, 2000, is $76,200. There is $2,110,000 requested to reimburse the Department of Labor for total benefits and payments from the employee's compensation fund for Workers Compensation for the twelve-month period ending June 30, 1999. This amount includes $966,000 for the U.S. Capitol Police assigned to the House.
