and mine iniquity I did not attempt to conceal.

6 I said; "I will confess my sins unto JEHOVAH," and straight thou forgavest the guilt of my sin.

7 And every one who shall piously offer his prayer unto thee, (in the season when thy favour may yet be found) him the greatest water-floods shall not reach.

8 Then may be say, "Thou art my refuge; thou hast preserved me from distress; and given me cause for songs of deliverance."

9 "I myself," saidst thou, "will instruct thee; and direct thee the way in which thou shouldst go: I will keep mine eye upon thee:

ΙΟ

10"That thou be not like unto horse or mule, which have no understanding; whose mouths must be under the command of bit and bridle, else they will not come near thee."

II Many sorrows await the wicked; but mercy will embrace him who placeth his trust in JEHOVAH.

12 Be glad and rejoice in JEHOVAH, O ye righteous! and be joyful, all ye who are upright in heart.

PSALM

PSALM XXXIII.

REJOICE in JEHOVAH, o ye just! for praise becometh the righteous.

2 Praise JEHOVAH on the harp; sing praises unto him with the ten-stringed psaltery.

3 Sing unto him a new song; sing praises unto him tunefully with an exalted voice.

4 For the word of JEHOVAH is upright; and all his works are faithful.

5 He loveth juftice and equity; the earth is full of the goodness of JEHOVAH. 6 By the word of JEHOVAH were the heavens made; and all their hofts by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathered the waters of the sea together, as in a bottle; and layed up the depths as in a store-house.

8 Let the whole earth revere JEHOVAH; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him;

9 For he spoke, and it was made; he commanded, and it rose into existence.

10 JEHOVAH frustrateth the counsels

of nations; and disappointeth the designs

of peoples.

II But the counsel of JEHOVAH endureth for ever; and the designs of his heart from generation to generation.

12 Happy is the nation whose GOD is JEHOVAH! happy the people, whom he hath chosen for his inheritance!

13 JEHOVAH looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men; he vieweth all the inhabitants of the world, from the place of his habitation.

14 He disposeth all their hearts; and attendeth to all their works.

15 No king is saved by a numerous host, neither is any mighty man delivered by the greatness of his strength:

16 The horse, for safety, is not to be depended on; neither can he rescue any man by his great courage.

17 Lo! the eye of JEHOVAH is upon those who fear him; and upon those who place their trust in his mercy;

18 To guard their lives from death; and to preserve them even from famine.

19 Our souls patiently wait for JEHOVAH; for he is our help and our shield. 20 There

20 Therefore our heart rejoiceth in him; and we place our trust in his holy name. 21 Let thy loving-kindness, O JEHOVAH! be upon us; according as we place our trust in thee.

PSALM XXXIV.

I WILL, at all times, praise JEHOVAH; his praise shall be continually in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in JɛHOVAH; the afflicted shall hear of it, and rejoice.

3 Praise JEHOVAH with me; and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought JEHOVAH, and he heard me; and delivered me from all my fears.

5 Look up to him, and be enlightened; and your faces shall never be ashamed.

6 [For JEHOVAH delivereth the lives of his servants; and they who place their trust in him shall not be destitute.]

7 When the afflicted man crieth, JEHOVAH heareth him; and delivereth hin from all his troubles.

8 The angels of JEHOVAH encamp around those who revere him; and rescue them.

9 0!

9 O! taste and see how good JEHOVAH is! happy is the man who placeth his trust

in him.

10 Revere JEHOVAH! ye who are his devoted servants; for they, who revere him, want nothing.

II Young lions may want, and suffer hunger; but they who seek JEHOVAH, shall want no good thing.

12 Come, ye children of men! and listen unto me; I will teach you the fear of JEHOVAH.

13

Who is the man that desireth to live, and wisheth to see good days?

14 Guard well thy tongue from evil; and thy lips from uttering deceit.

15 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

16 For the eyes of JEHOVAH are upon the righteous; and his ears are open to their supplications.

17 The countenance of JEHOVAH is set against those who do evil; to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

18 The righteous cry, and JEHOVAH heareth; and he delivereth them from all their distresses..

19 JEHOVAH
