N.B.--The word "temple"(ver. 7) means tabernacle. It is also used of heaven. Literally, a roomy, spacious place. John xiv. 2.

A Psalm of David. 1 O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

sickness. The reason why it is connected with sickness is because death and the grave are mentioned in ver. 5. Otherwise the expressions in vers. 1-4 might be figurative. But in any case, • enemies” (vers. 7, 10) are connected with the trouble.

all, Satan, rise up as enemies to trouble us.

Cush, the Benjamite, was neither Saul nor Shimei, but some otherwise unknown individual of the same tribe as Saul, and who slandered David.

God's interference was the only hope of deliverance ; but it does not follow that David knew what God would do.
