The Honorable Charles H. Taylor I shall, of course, be pleased to provide you with any additional information on this matter you may deem desirable. House of Representatives Dear Mr. Chairman: I am writing to request your approval to reprogram funding for two projects, the new House page dormitory and the broad walkway crossovers for the inaugural ceremony. Based on a schematic scope, $3,760,000 was provided in the 1999 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act (P. L. 106-31) for the construction of a new House page dormitory. Since that time, the design has been completed and bids have been solicited for construction of the facility. Based on the low bid, an additional $508,000 will be required to complete the facility. I am recommending that the $508,000 be reprogrammed from the "No Year" funds provided in the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 1999 (P. L. 105-275) for the replacement of the roof on the Longworth House Office Building. The roof replacement project is approximately 32% complete, proceeding will and sufficient savings are projected to fund the proposed reprogramming. The second item that I am requesting reprogramming for is the construction of the broad walkway crossovers for the inaugural ceremony. These crossovers provide access to the West Front lawn areas over the Olmsted walls from both the Maryland Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue walkways as well as from First Street. A reprogramming of $111,000 from annual funds provided in the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2000 (P. L. 10657) is requested for this project.
